I had the pleasure of doing the PR Videographer/Photographer internship with Jennifer Tan and the marketing team. My role was to get photos and video of different animals, exhibits, and events for Newport Aquarium's Social Media accounts. I also got to go out with Jen and a biologist when they went to news stations to tape segments for TV. I also helped out when they did Media Events, or when other videographers came out to the Aquarium to get B-roll or did interviews. I would mainly make sure people didn't walk into the shot while they were recording, hold stuff if they needed me to and also walked people through the aquarium to show them how to get to some areas. Jen would share the PR Calendar of every event that was going to happen and the date throughout the year and she would mark which event she would have me cover and I would then be tasked with creating those posts for her. When creating my multimedia work, I would first take photos or video in the aquarium, on my Nikon D3300, then I would upload those onto my computer through Lightroom, and then edit them. If it was video, I would put them in Adobe Premiere Pro, edit them into one piece and then export it. After I exported the work I would put the files on a thumb drive and then upload those to the work computer, and add the files to the Share Drive.  If the photos were gonna be used for Social Media I would also have to go in and add the Newport Aquarium logo to the photos and create captions to go with them. The captions were in a relaxed tone, usually tried to make a funny or cute phrase and then I would add hashtags to help connect our post to trending topics. Such as #SummerInCincy. Jen would then take my Photos and Captions and add them to either Facebook, Instagram, or she would schedule them through Hootsuite. I did help Jen create a blog post for the Aquarium Works website when she featured a biologist, Sam Hoesl. I took some photos of piranhas and Sam feeding Shark Central, which is an area where guests can touch sharks. I also got a video of Sam hand feeding one of the Port Jackson sharks named Fuji. Overall this has been a very enriching and enjoyable internship where I learned valuable information from the world of Public Relations. I am incredibly grateful to Jennifer Tan, and Nathaniel Weyman for giving me this chance to do this internship.
